The Impostor Queen by Sarah Fine

Don't you just love that cover???

Today, the newest book from Sarah Fine is out in the world!

About the book:

Sixteen-year-old Elli was a small child when the Elders of Kupari chose her to succeed the Valtia, the queen who wields infinitely powerful ice and fire magic. Since then, Elli has lived in the temple, surrounded by luxury and tutored by magical priests, as she prepares for the day when the Valtia perishes and the magic finds a new home in her. Elli is destined to be the most powerful Valtia to ever rule.

But when the queen dies defending the kingdom from invading warriors, the magic doesn’t enter Elli. It’s nowhere to be found.

Disgraced, Elli flees to the outlands, the home of banished criminals—some who would love to see the temple burn with all its priests inside. As she finds her footing in this new world, Elli uncovers devastating new information about the Kupari magic, those who wield it, and the prophecy that foretold her destiny. Torn between the love she has for her people and her growing loyalty to the banished, Elli struggles to understand the true role she was meant to play. But as war looms, she must align with the right side—before the kingdom and its magic are completely destroyed.

I was lucky enough to read this when Sarah was writing it and it is FANTASTIC.

Firstly, I think it’s awesome that you support fellow authors like Sarah Fine. Secondly, I am a huge fan of the Control series. And thirdly, I think that fictional books are sometimes seen as not as “good” as nonfiction books, when in fact I think they are just as important, if not more. In America we tend to focus on the quantitative amounts of our learning, like how many dates we can memorize for history or how much we know about sine, cosine, and tangent functions. This is important for the life ahead of us, yes, but I think that learning how to be a good person is maybe even more important. Knowledge is useless if you don’t know how to wield it, and how to help people and our world with it. Fictional books taught me everything I know about how to be a hero, even in everyday life. Books have shaped me my whole life, and they have greatly increased my knowledge of this world. Also, in general in our history fictional books have shaped whole generations. For example, Moby Dick among with others shaped the Romantic Period. Altogether, non-fiction books may hold the facts, but it’s fictional books that show us how to use them.
