Vloglessness

So I was all ready to post my first vlog today, and I totally panicked.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm really video-shy. I'm worried I'll be more "out there" than I already am, and it's so uncomfortable! I figured I would just get by, considering that my vlog would
1) not show my face and
2) was about making swag, hence focusing on an action rather than me.

But in the end, it was a vlog that just showed my headless body doing stuff.

FAIL.

So yeah, maybe I'll try again later. Especially if people want to see how I hand made my swag necklaces.

In the meantime, I remain vloglessly yours,

Lydia

p.s. Have you vlogged? Are you vlog shy?

That's all right. I wouldn't want to do one either.

It was excruciating for me to just put my voice out there on a post a couple of weeks ago, so I totally get what you say. I probably won't vlog anytime soon!

I don't blame you! I haven't vlogged either and don't really plan too. :-)

I've heard vlog audiences are less forgiving than blog audiences. I've debated doing them because I love goofing around in front of a camera--especially if it involves singing, BUT I don't have that kind of time to invest. I'm looking forward to when you do vlog. It will be awesome, I'm sure. =)

I'm SO vlog shy! I hate the way my voice sounds on camera:P I'm sure your vlog will come out great though!

I'm yet unsure what a vlog is! LOL!! But I think you should do what makes you feel most comfortable or at least do it when you feel it's the right time to do it or not at all!! Yay! Take care

I saw a show on PBS recently about Alan Alda giving a group of physicians acting lessons. The docs find that they become better communicators and therefore more effective in their profession. Some of the best profs I had in college also took acting classes. It might be something to consider if you're serious about vlogging.

I want to see how you made your swag necklaces! But I get the intimidation thing with vlogging. I always feel self-conscious and like I'm talking too fast. I'm lucky because I usually co-vlog with Sophia, which definitely takes the pressure off.

Maybe watch some more vlogs to get a better feel for it? Or I have seen DIY/craft vlogs that just show the hands while the person is saying the instructions! You might need a camera person for that though...

In any case, it's not as bad as you think! Promise! :)

People would pay me hard cash money if I would do a vlog filming WITHOUT showing my head!

I know what you mean. My first audio book came out today (THE BEAR WITH TWO SHADOWS)and I am very, very nervous. What if Hibbs speaks, and no one listens?

I'm totally with you. I'll stick with doing my regular blog for now! :)

Eeep! I would be as shy to vlog as you. I'd cut my head out of the viewer on purpose. :o) LOL--"vloglessly yours."

Hey, I have a book giveaway on my blog--don't miss it, if you have time to swing by!! I love sharing my books with other writers/readers.

Do it outside in the sunshine. It's all about the lighting.

I can't really see myself vlogging--I'm not shy about speaking in front of people, but I worry that nothing I have to say merits someone clicking the play button and sitting through the whole video! With blog entries, people can skim or skip around--it's easier to take what you want from a blog entry than it is from a vlog.

That said--I DO want to see how you made your swag! So now you know you have at least one person who wants to hear what you have to vlog about!

I'm semi-okay about being caught on video and having people see it but I don't think I could do one deliberately. I'd freeze, choke, whatever.

It might be a good Halloween video! teehee

No vlogs for me, heck no pics either.;)

I don't like vlogs anyway. I prefer to read.

I tried it 2x with my previous blog, but probably wouldn't do so again... unless... maybe up at the observatory. Someday... Happy Monday!

Vlogging is so much fun. I've done it before and wish I could do more but my current life doesn't have room for any vlogging.
I'm looking forward to doing more of it in the future though.
I would love to see you and most importantly hear your voice. :)

I'm totally vlog shy too. But I'm sure it'll be great when you're ready to show it to us.

Vlogless for me. I'm much more into the blogging!

I am totally chicken about vlogging too, though I did tons of theatre and still read in front of hundreds of people on Sundays. I hate how my voice sounds on answering machines, so that's part of my hesitation. Is that totally lame? I've been told doing a few vlogs would be a good way to market my poetry.

Well, you're far from the only one who's not much of a vlogger. I'd have no idea what to talk about (I'm also sure that I'd forget what to talk about even if I wrote it down before hand). Being on screen is harder than it looks, even if it's not posted :)

We just started doing our own vlogs and it takes so many takes and it still isn't great.

I love when authors do videos, it helps me connect the name on the book to a face. I hope you try again soon !

I have not vlogged and have no intention of doing so. I hate being in front of any camera.

Oh Lydia! Don't be shy, we'll all love to see you vlogging and being more "out there". It's a good thing! I'm looking forward to when you do post that first vlog.

I always HATE the way my voice sounds on video. It's either too squeaky or too raspy. Yick.

I'm too shy anyway. SO I would never be able to do a vlog.
