Vacation Reads

Thanks so much for stopping by on Kerri and Tamera's blog tour last week! I was off on a long-awaiting vacation with my family and caught up on a ton of reading.

*I don't actually read in the ocean. I'm more afraid of dropping precious books in the water, vs being shark bait
Here's what I finished:

Infinite Sky, by C.J. Flood (beautiful contemporary; and hey, Dr. Kang makes a cameo!)
ARC of Starglass, by Phoebe North (great space sci-fi with a lot of rich culture built into the story)
Crewel, by Gennifer Albin (a really creative dystopian. I remember Genn from our Querytracker forum days!)
Seraphina, by Rachel Hartman (wow. 10 stars. Seriously!)

I love catching up on my to-read list. It makes me so happy to sink myself into a book for hours on end, which is a time luxury I don't have in my normal week.

What have you read lately? Do you do massive catch-ups on your to-read list on vacation too?

Your vacay sounds terrific. I always have to have some great books with me when we go on one, and I am looking forward to a huge catch-up once school is out.

Awesome books. I can't wait to read Seraphina and I can get it in audio version at the library. I just finished Rump: The True Story of Rumpelstiltskin. It was great. I'm about 3/4 done with Scarlet which is really good too.

Okay. Now I feel like a schuck. I've had Seraphina since the end of last summer and have yet to read it. 10 stars, really?

I'm going on vacation in two weeks. Maybe I'll take the book with me.

I hope you had a good vacation.

I'll have to check out some of the books you read. I recently finished The Historian and The Help. Right now I'm reading the YA book, Lady of Devices.

Oooh, great vacation reading! I have yet to read Seraphina but I'm really looking forward to it--and I LOVED Starglass. Loved it. I can't wait for more people to read it.

Welcome back from vacation! I loved your photos. It looked so pretty!

I actually don't read much at all on vacation. I'm usually too busy running around or being exhausted, haha. So, so glad you loved Seraphina and that we didn't over-hype it for you! That is seriously one of my favorite books of recent years. :)

Best part of vacationing is reading. Unless I'm writing, that's good, too. I just finished Gone Girl.

I've heard good things about Crewel. I recently finished A Fallow Heart by Linda Kage. Excellent read.

Catching up on reading is the best vacation. Those sound like some good books.

I don't usually do big reading catch ups, but that's because I'm able to read every day. It's the trade-off for not having a spouse and children.

I hope you had a lovely vacation with your family, Lydia! :) Hm, well one of the many reasons why I’m excited for the summer is that I’ll finally have time to make my way through all the wonderful books that are waiting for me! “The Fault in Our Stars" (John Green), “The Lovely Bones” (Alice Sebold) and a reread of “The Kite Runner” (Khaled Hosseini) are definitely at the top of my list.

Also, Seraphina used to be the name of one of my turtles! The name never stuck, sadly.
