The Give-One/Donate-One Birthday Giveaway
You know, all week I've been like, "What am I going to blog about on Thursday? I can't think of anything. I've run out of ideas. What, what, what?"
Well, it's the night before and I'm exhausted. I've had a tiring week. I've been super stressed out for lots of reasons.
And then it hit me.
Oh man, tomorrow is October 4th. I forgot. It's my birthday.
So instead of ignoring it, which I'm apt to do, or grumble about my lousy week, I'm going to ask you guys to cheer me up.
A while ago, I did a giveaway where I asked you what was at the top of your TBR list. I loved hearing about what you guys wanted to read.
So to celebrate my birthday and get me out of this stressy funk, I'm giving away two books: One book for one of you guys, and second book to my local public library.
To enter, please leave a comment with:
1. Email addy!
2. What book is at the top of your TBR list that you don't yet own...
3. ... and what book you think should be donated to the library.
I'll announce the winners in one week.
Spread the word! And send me some virtual salty snacks. Or hugs. I'd prefer that to cake!

happy birthday lydia!! :D
a book i really want to read is touching the surface by kimberly sabatini.
i think you should give a copy of saving francesca by melina marchetta (such a great contemporary and excellently written).

Happy birthday, Lydia! That is an awesome thing to do. Tell you what - donate both books for me. Which ones? Ummm.... Following the Whispers by Karen Walker and Azelea Assault by Alyse Carlton. (Hart Johnson)
Happy Birthday Lydia! You're such a sweetie. I'd love The Lost Prince by Julie Kagawa. I think you should donate Surrender by Elana Johnson.
Happy birthday! Hope it is terrific. I think the above choices are good to donate, and because I love libraries, if I win, you can donate mine if I win-
Happy Birthday! I'd love for copies of Skinny by Donna Cooner and Butter by Erin Jade Lange to be donated to a library if I win! They both deal with issues of weight, body image, and acceptance, but they are very different books. I thought both were excellent and I'd love for more kids to have access to them.
Happy Birthday! 25?
If I win please donate both books to your local library. Cassastar by Alex Cavanaugh and Slipstream by Michael Offutt.
cheers,
mood
Feliz cumpleanos! You are a generous soul.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I love birthdays! Everything is going to work out fine!
You know what my Irish Gramma used to say when people were anxious about something?
"Ah, we'll all be dead in a hundred years."
I HOPE that helps. ;)
Give the library two great, current children's books! One YA, one MG.
Happy Birthday! Hugs AND salty snacks to you today!
A friend just recommended The Garden of Evening Mists, by Tan Twan Eng, and it's at the top of my TBR list now. As for a book to donate ... most libraries have a dreadful dearth of Lord Peter Wimsey novels, so I'd say Gaudy Night, by Dorothy L Sayers.
Happy Birthday, Lydia! Hope you have a wonderful day, and hope that the birthday fun extends right through the weekend!
This is a fun way to celebrate, thanks for doing it. I would love to read Tamera Alexander's newest, To Whisper Her Name. I think that the library needs a copy of The Emotion Thesaurus. That way once people check it out and see what a great resource it is, they'll like it so much they'll buy their own copy. :)
Have a happy day!
Thanks and blessings,
Karen

I'm looking forward to reading Chantele Sedgwick's, "Not Your Average Fairytale". I love love stories and it sounds like a super fun read.
And I'd donate Viktor Frankl's "Man's Search for Meaning"...awesome book, everyone should read it.
Oh, and Happy Birthday!!!
:) A smile for the day.
and my email is eseckman@ymail.com
(you'd think it was Monday!)
A book I don't own yet? Hmm. I've been looking forward to The Raft, by S.A. Bodeen, and Passengers, by A.S. King.
For your library, I think you should get them Sarah's Sanctum (yes, when it comes out in two weeks).
You have my email, but just in case: mattmrush (at) gmail (dot) com
Happy Birthday! I hope you have a cheerful, good writing, good doctoring day! If I win, I'd like The Unfinished Work of Elizabeth D. by Nicole Bernier and I'd love to see The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron go to your library...with the suggestion that folks who take it out get to keep it out for at least a month (It's a twelve week read if done correctly.)
I like book birthdays. If a birthday doesn't have books, it's not a birthday.
Happy Birthday, fellow Libran!
email: authorshellyarkon@gmail.com
Book: Surprise me.
Library: Any book should do.
Tweeted and FB'd this.
Will mention this tomorrow on my Secondhand Shoes Novel blog.
Hugs and chocolate,
Shelly

Happy Birthday. And here's a ton of salty snacks, with a few M&Ms tossed in because I like a hint of sweet with my salty.
I just did a bookstore splurge so there's nothing special on my wish list right now. If I win, please donate my books to the library. And since it's your birthday, I think the title should be your choice.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!!!!!!
Am sending you chips with salt and vinegar!! Yay!! Take care
x
Origin by Jessica Khoury has been hovering at the top of my "I'd do anything to read this right now" list for quite a while now... and The False Prince by Jennifer Nielsen would be a wonderful addition to any library. Happy Birthday!

Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday, happy birthday, happy birthday to you!
Finding Your Writer's Voice by Thaisa Frank might be a good one for the library to have. As for me, I'd enjoy whatever YA Urban Fantasy book you can scrounge up. Or you can just give both books to library :)
Have an awesome day!

Happy Birthday!! I hope your week gets better. If not, I hope you can grab a bag of salt and vinegar chips and sprinkle on a bit more salt. Yum.
As for books, I can't think of anyone I want to read--mostly because my TBR pile is stacked so very high.
As for books to donate to a library, I'd agree with Louise and suggest Gaudy Night--I wish more young adults were introduced to Dorothy Sayers. She's amazing--and I love that she wrote the novels to earn money so she could finance her translations of Dante's Divine Comedy.
Happy birhthdaaaaay! Yo, btw, I don't think ignoring your birthday is healthy for you. Uh-uh. *frowns sternly*
I'd love Wrapped by Jennifer Bradbury, and I'd love for you to donate Five Flavors of Dumb by Antony John. This contemporary is so awesome: pink hair, a deaf protag, and rock n roll. :D

Happy Birthday, Lydia. Yay!!
And doing this giveaway is such a kindness on your part.
I've had my eye on Stormdancer by Jay Kristoff for a while, though I may have Alz and Krispy on the brain when I finally get my hands on a copy lol!
For donating, I'm going for The Pearl Wars by Nick James.
My e-mail addy is tomewriter@gmail.com
Happy Birthday, friend! I hope you have a smashing day.
If I was to win I'd love a copy of Shelley Moore Thomas's new mg book. And I'd love to see one of Tammi Sauer's picture books go to the library.
my email is sharonkmayhew at gmail dot com
Happy Birthday Lydia! (again :))
On top of my tbr pile I have: SERAPHINA
Choice of book for the library: KEEPER OF THE LOST CITIES by Shannon Messenger.
PS: If I happen to win, I'm donating my book choice to your public library. :)

Happy birthday! Don't be stressed or sad! Be happy! Do a manatee dance! May your day be filled with salty delights and books! :)
I think Laini Taylor's next book, Day of Blood & Starlight, is probably at the top of my TBR list right now.
Since you're donating to a library, I thought I'd pick something a little less hyped - Michelle Cooper's A History of Montmaray. It's the first in a trilogy; book 3 is out next week. I loved the 1st 2 books. They're YA historical fiction set during the beginning of WWII with excellently rendered characters and great voice.
Hello Lydia-
Happy birthday! How sweet of you to give away books to celebrate your special day. I'd love to own Tamara Ireland Stone's Time Between Us. And I think your library should have a copy of Jennifer R. Hubbard's The Secret Year and/or Try Not to Breathe.
If I win (and I'm crossing my fingers), can you just leave a comment on my blog somewhere to contact me?
I love your birthday salt and vinegar chip! Ha! & YUM!
Happy Birthday!!
I really would like to own my favorite book of all time: Karen Hesse's OUT OF THE DUST. I'd love my own copy to mark up. :D
You could donate a self-pubbed title to the library, since they're probably less likely to buy one of those. ie. THE TRUTH ABOUT FAKING. :)
Enjoy your birthday and hope next week is much less stressful. This week and last have been pretty hard for me, too. Life can be a roller coaster! But ENJOY this day. :D
Happy birthday to you!!!
I think you should search a blogger friend's book title on your library website, if they don't have it, give one of theirs! I like to suggest friends' books to the librarian if they don't carry it, and sometimes the library purchases it.
Happy Birthday! What a fun way to celebrate:) I think you should have chocolate coated potato chips! That way its both salty and sweet:)
Happy birthday, Lydia!!!
I'm jonesing to read The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Yes, I'm about a decade late, but I have to read the book before I read the movie, and I have to see the movie because Hermione is in it! ;-) If I win, please donate it to the library, because I just realized I have it on my Nook.
A book for the library? The Book Thief by Markus Zusak rocks the casbah.
May you enjoy many salty treats on your special day!
Happy, happy birthday!! I'm such a birthday diva that I never forget mine. I hope you have a fun time. I'll just vote for the library book - you should definitely donate The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. It's so freaking fantastic for any age person to read.
Happy Birthday!!!
I'd love a copy of CATCHING FIRE by Suzanne Collins & the same for the library.

Happy Birthday and you're so awesome for this type of giveaway.
Bitterblue is at the top of my TBR!
Please give the library a banned book of your choice!
Happy Birthday, Lydia. Lots of hugs and salty snacks. Please donate any MG book of your choice to the library.
Happy Belated Birthday, Lydia. Hope you had a fabulous days.
Top of my list is The Dog Lived (and So Will I) by Teresa Rhyne. You should donate Periodic Tales: The Curious Lives of the Elements by Hugh Aldersey-Williams.
Happy belated birthday. You get a great big chocolate hug from me.
"Deadlocked" from Charlaine Harris would be a nice one. It's her latest one.
Nice article, thanks for the information.

Lydia, Happy Birthday! You must really be stressed if you totally forgot your own birthday.
I like salt-n-vinegar crisps too. I'm a big fan of the kettle chip brand ones.
Have fun on the giveaway. I can't think of any books on my to be read list right now. I've got so many that I own and haven't read yet. Oh wait, that new Percy Jackson book. About the Roman pantheon. I can't remember what it's called. *sigh* I'm useless to you. But I do wish you a happy birthday! Have a piece of cake too! This week I made some cinnamon cupcakes with cinnamon flavoured fresh whipped cream. Enjoy!
Jai
Who doesn't like a good hug. But snacks with hugs work too. Just not at the same time. That's a good wash to crush the bag of chips.
Happy Birthday, Lydia! Thanks for the giveaways!
Happy Birthday!!!! (Slightly belated) Hope you have a great day!
Happy belated Birthday! :)
Happy Belated Birthday. If I add to my TBR pile the other books in it will slap me. If you are donating to a library, I'd go The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.
Happy belated birthday!!!
