With so many people using Pinterest and pinning addictions running rampant, it is a frightening thing. It's far too easy to use a random, pretty image from the internet.
This is one of the reasons why I do so many illustrations on my blog. First, because I can hardly find the right image to suit me, and second, I won't sue myself (one of the many benefits of not having multiple personalities.)
So after Roni's post came out, I started taking images off my Pinterest board. I'm not yet done purging, but I've done a lot.
Another thing I did was email several photographers asking them for permission to post their photos, so long as I attributed their images to them. Many of them emailed me back, thanked me for being conscientious, and said yes.
So I'd like to thank these artists and celebrate their amazing work. If you want to pin them, you can. But PLEASE link directly to their website, not my blog! Give them credit where credit is due. :)

I'm off for vacation for a while. I'll be back to my blog at the end of August. Enjoy the rest of summer!

I will miss you, my friend. :-(
I love the photo UNDERWATER, 2009 by Erin Mulvehill.
Much better than John Locke's latest cover for BOX, his latest sociopathic doctor thriller. Yes, a killer physician ... I knew you would "love" that.
Have a great vacation. Roland
Have fun on your vacay!

Happy holiday, Lydia. These are great images. I like the last one.
Oh wow, I also love Erin Mulvehill's image. I see that as a great book cover. (Hehehehe, my thoughts are never far from books).
Enjoy your break lovely Lydia!! And yes - always always always check copyright - it's all in the details!!! Take care

Yep, I think a lot of bloggers got scared by Roni Loren's story. But scared into doing the right thing! I try to use my own graphics/art when I can too, otherwise I will browse for images that are part of creative commons, but it's easier to rely on your own stuff ;)
This is a very wise and informative post. Enjoy your vacation!
That's a great way to handle the copyright issues. Enjoy your vacation!
Very lovely pictures. Enjoy your vacation!
Yes, lovely, I've always been wary of pix from the internet. I didn't want to inadvertently do something wrong, so I don't use many photos even though I guess that makes my blog boring. A trade-off, like everything else.
Happy Vacay!
Vicki
Beautiful pictures!! I hope you have a lovely and relaxing vacation :o)
Lovely photos. I tend to link to photos that aren't my own, rather than reproducing them. I figure I'm safe that way.
The pictures are cool. Have fun on your vacation.
Have a great vacation! :)
The underwater one is creepy.
Enjoy your vacation!
Alarming article. If I needed a reason not to bother with Pinterest, this is it. I don't have time to anyway, but now I'm not even tempted.
I simply love the images you have posted, though.
Enjoy your holiday!
That really is scary Lydia. It's never happened to us, but you never know. I love your doodles BTW!
Nice!
Have a great vacay! :)
I'm nervous about using photos on my blog too, so I really don't anymore. I do have a Pinterest account but haven't really figured it all out.
Have a lovely vacation! See you when you get back!
Awesome photos!!! I especially love Nimbus - just gorgeous! :)
I hope you enjoy a wonderful vacation and get in lots of fun and relaxation! :)
I've been emailing and asking artists for a while now and I'm thrilled to see others beginning to do this. And I have always loved that you use your personal doodles!
Have a wonderful blogcation and see you when you return. Love the photos.
Wonderful photo choices!
Wishing you a great vacation!!! :-)
Just out of curiosity, are you a fan of the painter, Magritte? A couple of those images remind me of his work.
Have a great vacation, Lydia!
That's why I make a lot of my graphics, too. :) Have a great vacation, Lydia!
Have a nice break!
I've purged some of my Pinterest pins as well after reading hhat post. My blog never had too many outside pics so those were easy to delete, and lately I've been supplementing my posts with my own Instagram photos. :)
Enjoy your holiday. Have fun and keep safe :-)
I hadn't heard about the case, so I'm so glad you told me! I'll make sure I follow these rules now. Have a lovely vacation!
I like these pictures. I've been thinking twice before using an image.
Have a lovely vacation, Lydia! And isn't it strange the can of worms Pinterest has opened. As every link's a pin, you'd think marketers and photographers would be happy about it--click on the image, go to their site, purchase goods or services! Everybody wins, right? I guess not.
Those pix are lovely. I especially like "Underwater." I'll check out your board~ :o) <3
Enjoy your vacation which I am sure is well deserved! See you when you get back.
I love these pictures! And yes, it's definitely safer to use our own pictures and illustrations. I've started using my pictures since last year and I'm thinking of taking the time to rifle through my old posts and remove other pictures that aren't mine.
hope you're enjoying your vacation!

That whole scenario was more irritating to me than scary. Frankly, I wish she hadn't closed the thread so I could weigh in on it. Short version, that photographer was taking advantage of that blogger's ignorance
Those are gorgeous images.
I hope you have a wonderful vacation! :)
I loved the photos!!
Have fun on vacation!
I especially like the water image and the last poster - but they are all great shots. Love the new look to your blog. Are you responsible, or did you bite the bullet and get someone else to put it together? Either way, it's brilliant and fresh :)
Those pics are gorgeous!
You have a wonderful vacation.
Wow. These are wonderful images. Thanks for sharing them, and especially thanks to the artists. This is why I don't usually include pictures with my posts, unless I provide them myself, though I've been especially diligent since Roni Loren's awful experience.
P.S. Hope you're having a great vacation!
Enjoy your time off, Lydia!!! And I've stripped all my images from my blog, and only using ones of my own or ones I have permission for too. :) I even took down my blog award pics (not the recognition/names) because the background of those might be copyrighted. Yes, I'm paranoid now. :D
