Autumn Withdrawal

I shouldn't complain about summer.

There are no icy driveways, no snow escaping my scarf to give me a frosty wet Willy.

But I confess:

I miss fall and winter so badly!

I know there are those of you who adore summer. But right now, I'm sorely tempted to put on my favorite knee-high boots, my skinny jeans, my soft, long sleeve sweater, an extra-long scarf and gloves, go to the large, refrigerated produce section of Costco and just hang out.

For those of you impatiently awaiting fall, I made this for you.

It's a pumpkin spiced bundt I made last week, only 18 weeks too early for Thanksgiving! WOOT! (Does anyone else hear the voice of Maria Portokalos going "A bun? Bunk? BUNNNNNNNDT!"

No? Well, then listen to this then.

Those in favor of autumn, say "I! I'm freaking melting!"

I just got rid of my bundt tin and now there is a recipe I want to make - I like the idea of spiced pumpkin.

I am rather sorry we've had such a wash out summer here. I don't like great heat but I miss it when it doesn't happen

I always feel like this because I'm pretty much a summer-hater. Viva la pumpkin bundt!

You can come and hang out with me, Lydia. I wore skinny jeans, boots, jumper and scarf today. It rained and rained and rained. I'm counting the days to summer!

Is a cake with a hole in it...

I admit, autumn and the weeks leading up to christmas are my favorite times of the year. Good news is, autumn begins really early in France. Like the beginning of August and lasts up until the end of November. The bad news is autumn mostly consists of dark dreary days. The leaves don't change until end of September and the sun only comes out for a sparce indian summer around that time as well.

If you don't like heat, this is definitely a summer to long for autumn. Hope it's cooler for you.

I love summer so I'm not complaining. But it's not super hot where I live. But, I also love fall, slipping back into jeans and the crispness of the morning air and turning leaves. But I don't mind waiting through August!

Okay, when I say 'France'- I mean the Paris suburbs. The sound of france is a whole nother story of course:)

I'm with you! Bring on the cold weather.

I've been enjoying this summer more than most, simply because our winter consisted of no snow and many days of bitter cold. It took me until about the middle of June just to completely thaw. I love winter, but NOT when I spend four months unable to get warm.

Having said that, autumn is my favorite season, so I am looking forward to it. And my older kid ordered a pumpkin muffin when we were out yesterday, so I think she's excited for it as well! (though that could be just because she's ready to start skating lessons again ...)

We can spend an entire day at the movie theatre using their free AC when it gets too hot.

This summer in SW Louisiana has been grueling ... especially for those poor people having to work out in it all day! It also means hurricane season which is always a dangerous time. Autumn can certainly come early for me!

I am not a fan of summer, and am really looking forward to fall. It's always been my favorite season. Maybe partly because it feels so good after the summer heat and humidity. Thanks for sharing the bundt; it looks great!

Well, autumn means going back to work for me, so I'm torn. I do like the season, and okay ... once I get over having to get up at 6am, I do like the anticipation and promise of a new school year.

I'm a Fall Girl, too! But with the lovely Fall weather comes school and I'm not quite ready for that, yet!

I associate football with fall. Practice has started. Can't wait for the games.

I do adore summer but am SAD when I have to close the windows and turn on AC because it's too hot. And we've had LOTS of that this summer. So maybe I'll appreciate fall when it arrives this year...

Yum, that looks delicious! It's been a hellacious summer for most of the country, and you just reminded me of that. Here in the Northwest we've been so lucky! But you took me back to my many years surviving midwest summers in Chicago, some of which were like this one. Hang in there!

This film and clip is the first I've ever heard of Bundt too!!!! I love it when mama turns to her friend and asks why the cake has a hole in it! LOL!!

Awwww I love spring to be honest but I do like summer for all the sandals I am able to wear! Yay! Take care

Mother Nature finally gave me a pass on the air conditioning today. There's a breeze blowing, that's not hot, sticky, or full of clay so I opened all the windows. I can breathe!! Yay!

And that cake is making me hungry.

Oooh, that is one pretty cake. I am definitely not sad that this is my last NYC summer, because summers here are just gross (and in Buffalo, where we're moving, they're beautiful--it's never broken 100 degrees there!!!) But I'm totally a fall girl--my birthday is in September, and back to school time. Plus: sweaters!

Tell me about it! Arizona heat is cruel and unusual punishment. That cake looks tasty.

Like the Victorians treasured and guarded fine tea, we here in the extreme South treasure and savor our few meager days of autumn and winter. Your cake made me think of oranges and scarlets, falling leaves and toasty fires. Ahhh- thank you~

Yes, definitely melting here.

And I adore that movie!

I never doubted your sanity before, even on medical Mondays. But wishing for fall and winter! That is crazy!

We have the exactly the same Fall wardrobe staples! I'm ready to retire my sandals and put my knee high boots and skinny jeans back on, too. I feel more empowered in boots!

And that bundt looks delicious!

fall and winter are essentially the same here in L.A. One of these days I'll have to check out some true winter weather:)

The only time I love summer is when I'm at the beach.

And now I'm back. :p

I don't know how the weather works in your neck of the woods (Al), but it seems the heat's broken in the Midwest. Hang in there, girl! It's coming~ :o) <3

LOL! While I don't miss it enough to bundle up and go hang out in Costco's freezer section, I do long for Autumn as well. And that cake, oh wow, makes me long for it even more! I love all things pumpkin.

Summer is already almost over! You're going to make it. That cake looks delicious, btw.

I'm in the adores-summer camp, but as we've already discussed summer in California is pretty different from summer in your area. Clearly, this just means you need to vacation out here. :)

We quote that movie a lot! My fave line--He don't eat no meat? That's ok I make lamb.
Fall is my FAVE time of year. Yesterday it rained and got a tad cooler and the air almost smelled like fall. Almost. :)

Ah it's been too long since I've visited here! Your bundt looks divine:)

Because it's summer here 9 months out of the year, fall is my most favorite season. It means no more 118 or 115 degrees. Yay.
Oh and that looks so yummy.
