Tres Cosas

Not sure why I felt the need to pull out my Spanish for the title of this post. I only know medical Spanish, actually. I can tell you how to prep for a colonoscopy ("Mucho diarrea! Lo siento!") but can't order a drink in a restaurant. Go figure.

I was going to take a blogging day off. See, it's 5:30 in the afternoon. Practically Thursday, I tell you.

Anysmurf, I have some items that need sharing.

Uno:
I'm super thrilled that a certain bloggy friend, whose name rhymes with Blaura Bliamond, has some good news that she has FB'd about, but has yet to blog about. The news rhymes with Blublishing and has something to do with Blanuscript I may or may not have beta read. Go Blaura!

Dos:
Please take a moment to visit Deb Salisbury, who's blogging about our Sisterhood of the Traveling Blog question this month: What type of book do you read for writing inspiration, and why?  Do you read fiction or non-fiction, and what genres?  Mysteries and YA, or archeology and astronomy? If you missed them, check out previous posts from Laura, me, and Sarah!

Tres:
I got interviewed about my book over on this wonderful blog, Presenting Lenore. You get to hear about my bucket list, the song I listened to endlessly while writing THE FOUNTAIN, and which dystopian books I like. It was so fun! Please come and check it out if you have a moment.

Muchas Gracias!

I can't repeat the words I know in Spanish...

I have even less Spanish knowledge than you, despite living in SoCal where it is quite prevalent! (What? I took German in high school...)

Read your interview. So excited for your book!

Felicitaciones! (I'm really not sure how to spell that anymore. But I knew once). :) Sounds like a fun interview, and total congrats to your cp!

My husband and co-author are both fluent in Spanish. I'm lucky if I can catch an eighth of what they're saying. ;)

Going to check out your interview!

My Spanish is very limited. I took German in high school.

Congrats to Blaura on the blublishing!

Now I am off to check out your interview. Auf wiedersehen.

The majority of Spanish I know I learned on Sesame Street.

LOL! Congrats on your interview. So glad you don't have to answer all your questions in Spanish! :)

Forgot to comment here before I went to 'Presenting Lenore'. I know about as much Spanish as you - except mine isn't about medical issues and I can order anything in a restaurant. With a bad accent, to boot!

Mindy McGinnis said...

Hooray! I was lucky enough to be on Lenore's blog as well at the beginning of the month. Popping over to visit you there :)

I only know dirty Spanish words. Must be a boy thing.

Checking out your interview now, as I'm intrigued by your book...

I will check out your interview when I get a chance. Since it seems the thing to do, I'll also mention that the only Spanish I reliably know is

"Hable despacio por favor," which means "Talk more slowly, please," which is of dubious use to me since I don't understand what someone speaking Spanish is saying no matter how slowly they talk.

I also know how to say "My Japanese is not very good" in Japanese, and I can say "We are ready to go" in Arabic. All off the top of my head.

Wait, was this the portion of the comments where we brag about ourselves?

I heard Blaura's news on Twitter, though still no details. Which is kind of annoying.

Anyway, I find I remember more of my Spanish from high school if I start using it. I can say dumb things like:

Tu tienes un pescado en tus pantalones. (You have a fish in your pants.)

Or

Tu eres mas bobo tan un burro. (You're dumber than a donkey.)

I'm not sure when I'd ever need either of those statements.

So very cool. I hope one day I'm able to say I've been interviewed about my book.

Shelly said...

Muy bien- I'm on my way to check out your links. Lots of good news here!

My knowledge of Spanish has been packed away for too long. I'm sure it's dusty, moth-eaten, and just plain nasty.

But congratulations on the interview! And how exciting about your friend, "Blaura"! Yea!!!

My daughter is on her second year of Spanish and always corrects me when I try to use my limited Spanish on holidays...

I'm off to check out your bucket list...

What's Spanish for 'Woot! Another success story :-)' ?

I know enough Spanish to be bilingually incoherent.
