Time Suckage Continues with Maximum Force

Oh peoples.

I need more sleep. I need more days. I need more height.

As I said recently, I've take up yoga. (Time suck, but it's good for me, so it's allowed.)

I've committed to reading a book a week on Goodreads. Hard to argue with that--I need to read and I want to read. (Please come friend me if I haven't friended you by the way--I love reading my friend's TBR lists!)

The writing workshop work continues. And work. And writing. And family stuff. Not necessarily in that order.

But this week? I started getting involved in Pinterest. At first, I scoffed at it. What, a place where you virtually tack up pictures? So? So what?

So what is right. So awesome! I started pinning with the vehemence of a woman on hi-caffeine chocolate mixed with espresso powder and a dash of Tabasco. And so I pinned.

Stuff I want in my home (including ideal writing caves...*drool*)
THE FOUNTAIN characters, in flesh and blood.
Stuff for my MG novel, THIRD LAW OF MAGIC.
Inspiration.
Beauty.
Health.

Heaven help me, I'm a lost girl!

Have you discovered Pinterest?

What type of book do you read for writing inspiration, and why?

I looked at your Fountain characters and inspiration page--it was very cool. Still, I'm such an un-visual person (who also has a hatred of ... objects<--I know that sounds odd) that I think I'll probably avoid the temptation of Pinterest for now, at least.

Laura Pauling said...

Not yet but I think it would be fun to create collages of setting of my story or for difference characters or my fav covers. Sounds cool.

Oh no not Pinterest! I refuse to go there. I will never click on that link. EVER. I've heard how it sucks you in. I won't won't won't .... please hold me to that!

YUP! Went to the site. Got sucker'd. Had to force my finger to back off the site. Maybe sometime in the future. :)

No, I definitely don't need anything else to suck me out of writing. Okay I admit I'm considering Twitter.

Lydia! You are so naughty!! I resist more online temptation! I stick to my blog only cos if I do anymore stuff online, my cat will disown me! LOL!

But seriously!! So long as you are having fun- yay for you! And no, I will not go there, I will not go there! LOL!

Take care

Pinterest pulls you in like fb once did. I haven't visited because of how I fear the time suck. Good luck on your projects.

I love the title of your book 'Fountainhead'. And your MG book too sounds cool. I had no idea that you write MG too.

I've been to Pinterest but haven't done anything with it yet. My daughter loves it; she's gotten a bunch of ideas there for a friend's bridal shower.

I'm purposely ignoring pinterest with a vengeance. I simply don't have time for one more thing.

Must try Pinterest.

I'm so, so scared to join Pinterest! I'm scared I'll lose hours on there. It looks amazing!

I have only started pinning last week, and like you, I am addicted. It's so full of prettiness!

Yes, I have discovered Pinterest. I've only pinned like two or three things though.

E. Arroyo said...

I haven't heard of it, but I really, really don't need another addiction. =)

Yoga is a favorite pastime of ours (though I personal need to do it more~Heather). Love your Goodreads commitment, that's fantstic! And Pinterest sounds interesting...

Pinterest? Oh, I'm a little afraid. This sounds like something I'd like, and I don't need any more distractions. But I do love yoga and am willing to be distracted by that. ; )

I stay firmly away from Pinterest even though my friends are doing it. They've already gotten me into wine and chocolate, I can't handle another vice.

Sadly, I don't have a minute to spare - unless someone has some for sale? Anyone?

I wish you luck in your search for the elusive 25th hour, Lydia. A site to drain away what precious free time I have?

I think the demands on my time would group together to pimp-slap me! :-) Have a healing week, Roland

I can practically hear the sucking sound from Pinterest. I won't dare click on the link less I get pulled in. ;) The Goodreads time suck is excellent though!

It seems like everyone's jumping on Pinterest right now and making amazing boards. I love the WIP boards. It's something I've considered for a while since it's impossible to organize Tumblr & my Real Life is such a mess, I'd prefer a virtual pin board. I LOVE your Fountain board, btw.

I know so many ladies stuck on Pinterest...it's like crack!

I tried Tai Chi yesterday, and I am SO freaking sore now.

Ghenet Myrthil said...

I'm on Pinterest but I don't use it all that much. But it's fun to pin things and see other people's pins so I'll follow you. :)

I love reading too but lately can't get into it lately. I get into inspirational moods and then go wild. lol

I don't know where people find the time for all of the social media stops. Twitter and Blogger are all I can handle. Though I'm having my students create Pinterest boards for a famous artist next week. (on poster board, as if they are the artist pinning stuff)

I have JUST discovered Pinterest and already I've wasted hours on it. But you know what's funny? I'm afraid to pin things! It's like, bringing out all of my indecisive tendencies! So despite all the time I've spent on it, I think I have maybe 4 things pinned... it's really quite pathetic.

Sophia Chang said...

Don't we ALL need some more height. Even an inch would help for me :)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I will not succumb to the Pinterest hipsterdom. Nobody needs to see what I browse all day - it's boring enough for me. And it's all hot guys anyway. For research.

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

Everyone says it's a time suck so I'm avoiding it! like I'm not already online six hours a day...

Phoenix said...

I discovered Pinterest a few months ago, and it is the most beautiful time-suck in the world... yes, I'm addicted like crack. Ugh.

See you there? :)

Botanist said...

My! You have been busy! I took one look and decided to resist. I can't afford another time suck in my life!

Carol Riggs said...

My fingers are in my ears. Lalalaaa, I can't HEAR you.... (no, I don't need another site to spend time on). I've even cut back on Facebook lately. Still insanely busy. Good luck, Lydia! I'm glad you're doing yoga--it's great stuff. I took it in college, and still have a few exercises I do 3 times a week. :)

Tracy Jo said...

And height...lol! I totally hear you about more time. I feel like I must be doing something wrong because I just can't get it all done...but one day at a time, right? I love Pinterest! It gets the creative juices flowing!

Carol Kilgore said...

Love Pinterest! But I can't go there unless I go late, late, late at night when I can barely hold my eyelids open. Otherwise I would literally be there all day. I don't dare pin. I would be a lost soul if I ever began.

I'm right with you on needing more height. And time. Sigh.

Cat Winters said...

I blogged about Pinterest time suckage today, too!! It's a dangerous place to go. :)

Heather Hellmann said...

I also just started Pinterest. It is so incredibly addicting.

catdownunder said...

I can avoid Pinterest easily. I still have not worked out how to put pictures on my blog. (Yes, I know if I was really interested I could do it.) Words interest more - but, have fun!

Stephen Tremp said...

I've committed to two books a month. So far so good as I'm wrapping up my fourth book of 2012.

lbdiamond said...

Yeah I'm avoiding Pinterest for just that reason. ;)

Southpaw said...

A lot of people are talking about Pinerest and how they love it. I won't even look at it. I don't need any more time suckers here.

The Red Angel said...

I have yet to get a Pinterest...but I really don't want to get one because I already have too many sources of "time suckage"! Including tumblr (similar to tumblr, I think).

Wow. No I haven't discovered Pinterest and considering your new obssession I'm going to stay far away from it! There's already so much insanity in my life, I can't cope with yet more.

But it's good to be back visiting your blog after so long. I missed you.

I fear clicking on Pinterest and/or Goodreads. I have such an addictive personality they may cause me to use squander all my sick days.
