So I'm making this another short and sweet post.
In my effort to read more MG, I'm reading Holes, by Louis Sachar. Here's the blurb:
The boys at Camp Green Lake must dig one hole each day, five feet deep and five feet across. But what are they digging for? Why did Green Lake dry up? And what do onions and lizards have to do with it all? The answers lie in Stanley's own past...
So how about you? What are you reading right now?

HOLES is a terrific book!
I am currently reading Caleb's Crossing by Geraldine Brooks (adult, not kid lit) and it has ground my reading momentum to a screeching halt. The book is very well written - don't get me wrong - but life has been extra busy lately and this book doesn't pull me enough to make time for it. I keep looking longingly at the YA novels stacked up waiting for me, but I always finish books. Sigh. So maybe I'll get to BEFORE I FALL or PASSION (third in Lauren Kate's trilogy) before September :)
Holes is my favorite book ever! Hope you like it!
I want to get that one for my son. I'm reading...nothing right now. Just finished Delirium for the 2nd time. Waiting to get Ruby Red in the mail.
I'm reading Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. I know I'm behind.
Have a great weekend!
Holes is a really good book. I'm reading Possession right now and going to read Imaginary Girls. Also trying to re-read the Harry Potter books before the movie.
Holes is a fantastic book. Read it years ago. I really should read it again. I'm trying to up my MG reads this summer, too. I have two MG series in the works but both have stumped me, so I've decided to dive into that realm and hopefully get inspired. Shorter posts are great for the summer, I think.
I'm currently reading and MG series Mackenzie Blue. She's a peach!
I, too, am having a hard time posting anything this summer.
I'm reading "Half Broke Horses" by Jeannette Walls and "The Heart is a Lonely Hunger" by Carson McCullers. I'll be posting a review of that amazing book soon on my blog.
Hope you're having a nice summer.

I just started Possession by Elana Johnson. It's a YA dystopian novel. So far, it's pretty awesome. And Elana's such a neat person.
I am amazed at the number of books that don't get published over here that are published in the US and vice versa. Whilst in the US I went into a book shop and asked for a British book that I know has just been released and was told it would not be sold in the US.
Yvonne.
I haven't read holes, but will put it on my TBR pile (which is now the size of the Empire State Building!)
I've read 4 books this week. Am on my fifth. I read in spurts, if you can't tell, LOL!
Moonglass, Divergent, Forest of Hands and Teeth, Go Ask Alice, am now working on Duff.
I'm reading Magic Below Stairs, by Caroline Stevermer, an MG book set in the same world as her YA Kate and Cecilia series she co-wrote with Patricia C Wrede. And I'm loving it! It's one of those books where I'm torn between wanting to read it fast, to find out what's going to happen, and wanting to draw it out slowly so it doesn't end too soon.
My 11 yo read the book and loved it.
I'm rereading Torment by Lauren Kate and then will be starting the sequel, Passion, this weekend. :D
Edge of Sight by Roxanne St.Claire.
Happy Weekend!
oooh, that sounds intriguing! I'm not reading anything right now- saving up my tbr pile for when I finish my first draft of current wip.
Holes is fantastic.
I'm STILL reading Game of Thrones. I'm a slow reader.
I haven't read that, but from the comments here it sounds like it's great. I'll have to add that to my reading list. I just finished Chime, which was really great. Next up: Imaginary Girls.
I'm reading urban fantasy at the moment, Charles DeLint. He's genius.
This looks like an interesting book.
Just finishing up Stephen King's JUST AFTER SUNSET. Next up is probably THE HUNGER GAMES.
Good morning, dear Lydia. Nice way to stay in the mix. Short, sweet posts are kind of like summer in that way.
Currently reading blogs! I read a lot of non-fiction earlier in the year: 'A Generational Theory of Love,' 'The Origin of Consciousness and the Break Down of the Bicameral Mind,' 'World Wide Mind,' 'Hackers,' 'The Divided Self,' 'The Three-Pound Universe.' I've written reviews of much of what I read over at Amazon.

Like you don't have enough to read, already, right? ;)
Have a wonderful weekend.
Holes was SO much fun.
I just finished a YA called Grounding Quinn that I stumbled upon and LOVED.
I've heard great things about this book.
I'm reading Prodigal Son by Dean Koontz in an attempt to add some adult fiction to my reading. I'm almost done though and have no idea what to read next. I have several choices waiting on my bookshelf...
Holes sounds cool. Will try to get it.
I am currently reading 'The Prime of
Miss Jean Brodie by Muriel Spark.
You! Hee heee.
Holes is great. I've just started one about a goose, a spin on the fairy tale Golden Goose, good so far.
Right now I'm reading Dostoyevsky. Great stuff, my favorite author >:)
Cold As Heaven
Oh I love the why are they digging holes premise!! Wonderful!!
I'm reading Ann Best's memoir In the Mirror!! Slowly but surely!! Take care
x
Holes has always been one of those books I want to read but I never do. I will remedy this eventually. :)
Right now I'm finishing up The Iron Thorn and beta-reading. Then I'm super excited to get started on Holly Black's White Cat and Sarah Rees Brennan's The Demon's Surrender!
I feel like, for some reason, summer time is harder to do anything even though it FEELS like you have more free time.
I'm currently reading THE DISUNITED STATES OF AMERICA by Harry Turtledove. Not very far, but interesting so far.
Holes is good. I just finished Little Red Riding Hood. The worst YA book I have ever finished. It would have helped if I had known it was written after the screen play, but I wasn't thinking when I picked it up.
I am reading Anna and the French Kiss now. MUCH better so far.
Is it as odd as the movie?
I'm reading Starswarm by Jerry Pournelle, one of his light young adult books. But I just finished Feed, and now I see what all the fuss was about!
I love summer reading.
I haven't seen the movie, Alex, but I just saw the preview and it looked pretty true to the book.
Holes is a great read... it is a full meal.
The kids and I are currently reading The Invention of Hugo Cabret.
I don't recognize the cover, but I recognize the story, and the kid's name, Stanley Yelnats (Stanley Stanley!). So I must have read this book once upon a time...
Right now I'm finishing a mystery called, ahem, MYSTERY. I'm enjoying it.
We have Holes in the house (not literally, hee hee) but I haven't read it yet.
I recently finished The Mockingbirds by Daisy Whitney and am currently reading Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. I like to read a few classics in the summer when I have more time.
HOLES is always out of my classroom library. It's a magnet for the students. I'm just finishing up POSSESSION and WATER FOR ELEPHANTS. Both are page turners and have great voices.
I feel like I'm the only one in the world who hasn't read Holes, so I must get on that soon! I just finished reading The Agency by Y.S. Lee and loved it! I may need to read more historical Ya--so much fun!
The Things A Brother Knows, by Dana Reinhardt. Just started it! Have a great weekend, Lydia.
I've heard good things about Holes, but haven't read it.
I'm reading "To Say Nothing of the Dog" by Connie Willis.
I haven't read Holes, but it sounds interesting. I just finished reading The Great Gatsby and have started Twenty Thirty.
"The Autobiography of My Mother" by Jamaica Kincaid. Intense and painful and incredibly awesome (although I think I liked "My Brother" by her even more). This is not beach reading. But I really really NEED beach books, too, so I'm reading some old fashioned classic mysteries by Josephine Tey, and picked up a romance by Nora Roberts, too. Now, after reading your post and Laura's, I might have to get HOLES and DIVERGENT.
I remember when I was a kid I used to dig a lot of wholes in my backyard, thinking I'd eventually reach China.
I've gotten a bit savvier since then.
I'm reading Jennifer Egan's A Visit from the Goon Squad. She'll be at a writer's conference that I'm attending next week, and I want to finish the book before I see her!
I love the Disney movie. Watch it with the kids whenever its on. Great great story! I just picked up the second Harry Potter book and am reading that. Just got started. First was was very good. It exceeded my expectations.
Haven't read it! Really enjoyed the movie, however. Kinda hate reading books after watching a movie, tho I've done it before. I like NOT knowing how a book ends; it's part of the draw. I prefer reading a book first and then watching a movie. :)
What am I reading? Nothing, now, but when I'm done revising I will read Heather Dixon's ENTWINED, which I bought at a recent SCBWI conference.
Next to my bed, there are piles of books. I won't tell you what all of them are, just some main subjects...art instructions, art history, cooking, philosophy, photography, etc. :)
You know my romance addiction. I'm on a Highlander kick, devouring Julianne Maclean's series. Something about a man in plaid. . .
I absolutely loved Holes :)... I'm currently reading Possession by Elana Johnson right now, and it's pretty awesome so far!
What a classic!
The only thing I'm reading right now is Galore for my book group tomorrow night.
I'm rereading C.S. Lewis's Narnia books with my girls. It's wonderful to share them with my daughters.
I'm also reading "In My Hands: Memories of a Holocaust Rescuer" by Irene Gut Opdyke." Amazing!
Lydia, I almost forgot to tell you. There is an award at my blog for you! :)
I loved HOLES! Such a great book. I just finished reading Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta and it was amazing.
I just finished CRAVING PERFECT by one of our blogger friends, Liz Fichera. It was an interesting story.
Holes is awesome. :) I read it in middle school and really enjoyed it. You should definitely watch the movie!! Shia LaBeouf is in it. ;D
I am currently reading Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. IT'S SO GOOD.
