NaNoRevMo?

There have been a lot of NaNoWriMo blog posts and to each one I've written, "Good luck! I'm not doing NaNo this year but..."

What am I doing for the month of November?

Revising!

So. Anybody ready for National Novel Revising Month?

NaNoRevMo?

Anybody?

(*crickets*)

On a louder note, please check out Danyelle Leafty's post this month on why stories exist--in every culture and time. And if you missed them, I blogged on this last week, and Laura posted the week before!

I'm still undecided on NaNoMo...I'm pretty sure I'd fail at it:/

NaNoRevMo ... I'll do this one. I need to revise the manuscript I finished last month.

jbchicoine said...

Well, if re-writing counts as revision, that's what I'm doing!

Tamara Hart Heiner said...

I really like that there OPTIONS. Working on your novels intensely is still working on your novels, even if it's not from scratch.

Carol Kilgore said...

I'm with you for NaNoRevMo. It feels as if I need National Novel Revising YEAR with this one.

Carol Kilgore said...

Oops. Forgot.
I have an award for you on my blog.

Christine Fonseca said...

LOVE IT! Have fun.

Alex J. Cavanaugh said...

I'll be revising what I've already written and writing more!

lbdiamond said...

Yup, count me in for NaNoRevMo...oy!

Matthew Rush said...

I'm in! My own re-write is exactly why I have no time for NaNo (not that I'd be any good at it anyway).

Connie said...

You go, girl. I just finished two revisions, and I'm still trying to recover.

B.E. Sanderson said...

I'm finally finished with the revising, so I'm actually planning on the Wri portion this year. Good luck with your RevMo. =o)

Rayna M. Iyer said...

Does re-writing count as revising? Because if it does, that is what I am going to do in the last three weeks of November (swamped in the first week).

Love the note!

Rachna Chhabria said...

Lydia..I will be revising a book, and rewriting another. My brainstorming buddies are urging me to sign up for NaNo. I am undecided about it.

Amie B said...

uggghhh! i hope to have my revision DONE by november. sigh.

sarahmullengilbert said...

I'm with you, Lydia, I need to buckle down on revision. Bring on November :)

Giles Hash said...

I'd love to join you (sort of... I post about NaNo every November), but right now I'm working on a short story...and I NEED to finish it soon. Have fun, everyone! :D

Clara said...

Ha, the past 6 months have been all about revising and reviewing for me. Imagine nanowrevisionmo, multiplied by six.
Yes, Im going insane and lost all notions of reality.
Weeeee!

Jennee said...

That would be a good idea...but I'm already anxious to start Nanowrimo. I've only done one revision from my result of last November's "work of fiction." I should work on that more...

Melody said...

Ummmmmm...
Let's just say I *should* be doing NaNoRevMo but I'm signed up for NaNoWriMo... *sigh*
I need a new story; I've been working on the same one for a year, and it's time for some fun writing! :) NaNoWriMo couldn't have come at a more perfect time... *ignores MS that must be revised sooner or later - i can't hear you!*

JEM said...

Uh, NOvember for me is NaNoFiUpMo for National Novel Finish Up Month. I know myself well enough now to know that I can't/shouldn't write a whole anything in one month, but my deadline for myself to finish my WIP is Thanksgiving, so I'll be plugging along like everybody else!

Ann said...

I can barely organise my time to just write a couple hundred words a day let alone 50000 in a month. I am in awe of all who manage it. How I ask? How?

Samantha Bennett said...

I've never done NaNoWriMo... but 50k in one month does sound alluring. Good luck with your NaNoRevMo! Revisions and I have a prickly relationship. :)

Linda Kage said...

I no NaNo either (Sorry, I couldn't help myself; I had to say it that way)!! But I will be revising, revising, revising. So, I'm with you! It's NaNoRevMo for me too.

Holly Ruggiero said...

I’m totally with you. I decided I’m going to knuckle down and do the challenge but in regards to revising.

Faith said...

Haha... I know I should definitely be doing this instead of writing something new, but I just can't NOT do NaNo... it's just too darn FUN! But I bet you'll have fun revising too. Lots of people seem to be doing that this November instead. :)

Blog award for you up on my blog as soon as I hit 'publish' on this post. Do with it what you will!

Elana Johnson said...

You know, I'm actually going to try NaNo. I'm not playing by the rules, because I'm working on a book I've already started. But if I could crank out 50,000 on it, that would be awesome. It would mean I could have the draft done and ready to revise in December and January...

Lisa_Gibson said...

Oh well I'm letting my WIP (which I'm finishing up) simmer while I do NaNo. Then I'll come back for the revision part. :)

I'm having second thoughts about NaNo, so maybe I'll head my own direction too. Good luck with your revisions. :)

Talli Roland said...

Yup, I'll jump in with you! I'll be doing a lot of revisions too.

Author Jennifer Hudson Taylor said...

You and me both! My deadline is Nov 1st, so that throws me right into revisions--or anticipated revisions.

Erica M. Chapman said...

I'm doing it!! Good luck with the revision... I have a bit left on my revision, but I need to get away, a month will be a good break ;o)

Melissa said...

I'll be cheering you on in your NaNoRevMo! Good luck!!!

Krispy said...

Hey, that's a good way to spend November too! I'll be on the writing side of it, but yay! Go you! :D

Jai Joshi said...

Revision is evil but I'm going to tell myself that I enjoy it (call it positive self delusion) so that I get it done.

I will get it done. Just as soon as I get over this cold.

Emy Shin said...

I wish I had a written draft to revise for November, but alas. Good luck!

Jen Daiker said...

Bahaha! I love this!!! Lydia what a fantastic idea! Though I'm participating in NaNoWriMo it would have been even more helpful for NaNoRevMo... but I can't take an overload on.

However, if you decide to do this next year, I'm so IN!

The Words Crafter said...

I can't hardly wait until crickets are playing music outside my window as I'm neck deep in revisions. I'm so excited about the NaNo thing....

I didn't want nap time to end today because ideas and plot lines were flowing....I'm actually creating an outline!

I cannot express how much I appreciate all the help you and Laura gave me yesterday.

Thank you! And good luck with revisions!

Heather said...

I'm actually starting a new novel~though I'm not doing NaNo~and I'm revising one next month! Crazy? Yeah, probably.

Colene Murphy said...

Good luck on your revisions! I actually think the NaNoRevMo would be harder than NaNo! So...I'll just leave you to that...what is your goal?

Susan Fields said...

I'm right there with you revising in November. It seems I can never do NaNo because I'm always in the middle of a major revision in November.

Erin Cole said...

Hi Lynn,

I am revising! Actually beginning my first edit - it's a little daunting.

Good luck!

Stina Lindenblatt said...

Officially I'm not doing NaNo because I've already started my new project. I am hoping, though, to be almost finished the first draft by the end of November.

Shallee said...

I will so join you in NaNoRevMo! I'm revising my novel now, and have to have it done by Nov. 30th for a full novel critique group. Good luck with your revisions!

The Golden Eagle said...

Now that's a good idea for the month of November! I don't think I'll do it (since ideas are flowing too fast and I want to get them down!) but good luck with your own revisions!

Laura Pauling said...

I'm doing both. I'm taking a break from ms to work on a new one but I'll be revising a bit more part way through November. Have fun revising!

Patti said...

Totally with you on that one.

Slamdunk said...

Thanks for the link over to Danyelle's--she did a nice job with that topic.

How about NaNoFINISHMo? That's what my goal is- to just finish my current WIP.

Like you, I am revising this month, and I'm also writing the rough draft of my YA urban fantasy,FRENCH QUARTER ORPHAN (the legend of Victor Standish.)

Thanks for visiting my entry in the 13 DAYS OF HORROR and making such a great comment. It made my evening.

Good luck with your revising..I think December will be my NaNoRevMo

Patti Lacy said...

I am pretty sure I will never participate in NaNoREVMO...but will be revising and polishing and creating, Lord willing, till I drop!!

Blessings with your work!

Awesome. I have no time to write a novel, but revising one sure sounds do-able.

Great idea.

I'm so in on this, Lydia! I have the revision anvil dangling over my head, and I'd love to get out from under it.

I'm with you on NaNoRevMo. Gotta infuse more of my MC's voice in the last few chapters of my WIP.

Bathwater said...

I don't feel like I have any time now! How would I ever right a novel in a month.

Amanda Sablan said...

NaNoRevMo would be me. I'm deep in revision mode and I hope to be done by the new year.

Jonene Ficklin said...

Oh yes, that's where I've been all month. I'm really ready to start a new book!

Dayana Stockdale said...

Oh boy! I get to participate. I had not thought of NaNoRevMo. Revising is where I'm at now. NaNoWriMo sounds like fun but I have to stick with my current WIP. RevMo it is!

I'll TOTALLY do this...what a great idea.
