Five Fives for Thursday

I got tagged by Jemi Fraser and Zoe Courtman! Whee! I get to answer five questions five times.

1) Where was I five years ago?
-Living in Westchester, NY
-Commmuting into Manhattan (it once took me two and half hours to drive home)
-Working at Bellevue Hospital/NYU where I did my med school and residency training
-taking care of only two kids instead of three
-Living with far fewer wrinkles

2) Five years from now, I'd like to be
-Working on my fifth book
-Agented and published
-Still working part time as a doc
-Finished my family history project (it's taking forever!) and getting it self-pubbed to share with family and friends
-Still happy in Omaha

3) On my to-do list today
-get the sprinkler system working
-plant hostas in backyard
-eat my first home-grown, organic garden salad
-swing on the swing set with the kids and get dizzy
-take a deep breath and appreciate my life

4) 5 favorite snacks
-a hunk of cheese
-a hunk of sopressata
-rice crackers, the spicy ones
-Oreos and milk
-raw veggies with Bleu Cheese dressing

5) If I was a billionaire, I'd
-Donate a lot. Cancer research, the local free clinic, the arts in Omaha, Susan Buffett Foundation...
-Take my family and extended family on a shopping spree.
-Quit my job and volunteer in above free clinic instead
-Pay off my mortgage and the kid's future tuitions as well as all my nieces and nephews
-Get solar panels for my house

Cool. Now I'm gonna tag a few more people out there:

Rebecca Knight
Stephanie Boman
Paul C
Yat-Yee Chong

Happy Thursday!

You're in Nebraska?! I need your help then. Can you stand up and be counted in my Global Blogging Buddy quest. You can do it here

Great list!

Hi Lydia,
I will leave my answers here.
- I've been living in Leamington, Ontario for most of my life with the exception of five years away at university.
- This is also a great retirement community with a national park, recreational facility, green ways...
- Today I want to catch up on some blog networking and doing some gardening.
- I'm snacking less: apples, green tea, some dark chocolate, a yogurt, and...assortment of no salt nuts.
- Billionaire: give more to charities like Kiva, and MCC.

I enjoy visiting your blog and thanks.

Oreos and milk...yum.
Plus, swinging on the swing and getting dizzy is the best. :)

Loved this, it gave me a chance to learn a bit more about you.

I love me some raw veggies and blue cheese dip. It's one of my favorite snacks. On the garden front, NY hasn't given us a break weather wise to do much. (Hugs)Indigo

Lydia Kang said...

Indigo: Oh, it's raining here too. So much for gardening.

Hey Paul: thanks for your answers!

And DL: , I added myself to your list. Nice.

Candyland and Isabella: One can never have enough Oreos and Milk.

I love your five year goals! I have no idea what hostas are though. Or sopressata! It is nice having international friends - so lovely to hear about new things, and to guess what they could be!

Mayowa said...

Oh this was good.

Every blogger should have a post like this (or a bio post). It was nice to learn new things about you.

Now I want to know how that salad turns out.

How very fun to learn more about you. I think we're soul sisters, because dude! Oreos and milk? Snack of champions.

Janet Johnson said...

Fun! I love the idea of a free clinic. I know my hubby would like to do that some day.

And I can totally feel the commute. DC area is the same way. Why do we live here again? ;)

Melissa Sarno said...

What fun! Thanks for sharing. Cheese and sopressata!? One of my all-time favorite snacks. Lawsie me, I want some right now.

Lola Sharp said...

Mmmm blue cheese!
And oreos and milk...double stuffed, please.

I need to go make lunch now. ;)

Loved your answers. Enjoy your salad.

Great answers, Lydia! My goodness, you must have been a busy woman doing your residency and raising a family! I'm so impressed.

I loved learning more about you - great answers, Lydia! Oh, and hostas, man. They're awesome. I don't have a green thumb (shoot, I have, like, a *black* thumb), so my mum planted some hostas at my house, figuring I couldn't kill 'em. She was right: I haven't done a THING with them, and yet they come back year after year like amazing, fat green afros busting out in my yard :D Love 'em!

Didn't realize you were in Omaha...we're practically neighbors!

Loved your answers.

What is sopressata? Can I put blue cheese dressing on it? I LOVE blue cheese dressing! LOL! :-)

Big change of life from commuting to NYC to living in Omaha. Good luck with writing, agents, and publishing!

I applaud you. I got tagged, and I have yet to find the time to respond. Right now, I'm going to be late for work if I don't rush off.

You are a champion : you have discovered how to cram 25 hours into one day, Roland

First of all--New Follower! *waves*

I stumbled across your blog today--I have no idea how I've missed it all this time, but I've found you now! (cue ominous music) :)

This was a great post to find you on because now I feel like a know a whole lot about you. I love getting to know other writers through the blogosphere, so I look forward to reading your posts. Though I'll confess, I do a lot of blog hopping at work, so I don't always comment. But I'm a GREAT lurker. :)

Love your answers! I love the solar panels idea - when I win big, I'm going to do that too! :)

Susan Fields said...

Wow - your snacks are so healthy!

Two and half hours to drive home from work? While you have two kids? I can't even imagine it! That must have taken a lot of patience.

Carolina Valdez Miller said...

Oh, I love these! Such a great way to learn about others. And I'm totally with you on the cheese. I could eat cheese all day long. Seriously. Cheese is beautiful. Crackers are nice, too, but not necessary.

Jonathon Arntson said...

A hunk of cheese - nice!

I really enjoyed reading your Qs and As. My husband and I always talk about what we would do with a TON of money! It is nice to see that you would do a lot of good if you had a billion dollars.
